AceShowbiz - Superstar gymnast Simone Biles has had enough of the scrutiny and disrespect aimed at her husband, NFL player Jonathan Owens. With a powerful and direct statement on social media, she's demanding an end to the negativity surrounding her relationship.
Biles, 27, recently took to her Instagram Stories to confront social media critics who have been commenting on her marriage, stating, "Y'all are blatantly being disrespectful to my relationship & my husband. So I'm gonna go ahead & say this one time. Respectfully, f*** off."
Her husband, 28-year-old Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens, echoed her sentiments, labeling the criticisms as "weirdo behavior" on his own Instagram Story.
Their public defense follows a wave of criticism that began last December after Owens referred to himself as "the catch" in their relationship during an interview on "The Pivot Podcast". Some fans took this comment negatively, despite Owens explaining he was fighting his natural fear of commitment before meeting Biles.
Biles clarified, "He never said I wasn't a catch. He said he was a catch because he is. I've never met a man like him."
Biles and Owens first crossed paths in 2020 on the dating app Raya and got married on April 22, 2023. The couple had an intimate ceremony at Harris County Courthouse in Houston and later celebrated with friends and family in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
The criticism reached a point where Biles broke down in tears, sharing during her April appearance on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast, "I thought it was hilarious at first, and then they hurt my feelings … One night, I broke down, and I'm like, 'Why are you guys talking about my husband like this?' "
She emphasized that personal attacks on her family are particularly painful, "Because for me, it's like talk about me all you want, but don't come for my family."
Despite the negativity, Biles continues to praise her husband's unwavering support, recently posting affectionate photos after her win at the Core Hydration Classic. She wrote, "My whole heart. The best supporter, I couldn't ask for a better husband."
The couple's stance is clear: they are unbothered by the negativity and continue to thrive in their relationship. As Biles stated, "@everyone else that supports us, we love y'all so much." With such a strong bond, Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens are set on proving that love and respect will always triumph over criticism.
