Sean Combs has addressed a disturbing 2016 video that surfaced, showing him brutally assaulting then-girlfriend Cassie, saying's he's 'committed to being a better man.'

AceShowbiz - On Sunday morning, May 19, Sean "P. Diddy" Combs appeared on Instagram to discuss a troubling video from 2016 that shows him striking his former girlfriend, Cassie Ventura. "It's so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you got to do that," he stated in a 70-second video. "My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I'm disgusted. I was disgusted then when I did it, I'm disgusted now."
The hip-hop star continued to elaborate on his journey towards redemption, saying, "I went out and sought professional help. Had to go into therapy, into rehab. Had to ask God for his mercy and grace. I'm so sorry. But I'm committed to being a better man each and every day. I'm not asking for forgiveness. I'm truly sorry."
Combs' public apology comes on the heels of the L.A. County District Attorney's office stating that they will not prosecute him for the 2016 incident due to the statute of limitations. The office emphasized that the images were "extremely disturbing and difficult to watch." They also clarified that no new cases related to the attack had been presented to them but encouraged victims or witnesses to come forward.
Meanwhile, the incident corresponds to earlier claims made by Ventura in a lawsuit, which has since been settled. Her attorney, Douglas Wigdor, commented, "The gut-wrenching video has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behavior of Mr. Combs. Words cannot express the courage and fortitude that Ms. Ventura has shown in coming forward to bring this to light."
The relationship between Combs and Ventura, which lasted for 11 years, allegedly began when Ventura was signed to Combs' Bad Boy Records at the age of 19. Ventura accused Combs of luring her into a controlling romantic relationship. Following her lawsuit late last year, Combs has faced four additional sexual misconduct lawsuits and stepped down as chairman of his digital media company, Revolt, in November 2022. He reportedly sold his stake in the company in March this year. Federal raids have also been conducted on his properties in L.A. and Miami.
Despite these allegations, Combs has firmly denied any wrongdoing. In a statement posted on social media on December 6, he declared, "Let me be absolutely clear: I did not do any of the awful things being alleged. I will fight for my name, my family and for the truth."
