The long-awaited sequel trilogy to Danny Boyle's 2002 hit zombie film '28 Days Later' is gaining momentum with the addition of A-list stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer and Ralph Fiennes to the cast.

AceShowbiz - Danny Boyle and original writer Alex Garland are returning to helm "28 Years Later", a new trilogy, with Boyle directing the first movie from Garland's script. Sony Pictures will distribute the film globally.
The first "28 Days Later" (2002), starring Cillian Murphy, followed a bicycle courier who awakened from a coma to find a zombie-infested world. The sequel, "28 Weeks Later" (2007), was directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo and written by different writers.
Deadline exclusively reported that Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson a.k.a. Aaron Johnson and Ralph Fiennes have been cast in "28 Years Later". Boyle and Garland are also producing alongside Andrew Macdonald, Peter Rice and Bernie Bellew. Murphy will serve as an executive producer.
Comer, known for her Emmy-winning role on "Killing Eve", has recently starred in "Free Guy" and "The Last Duel". Taylor-Johnson, a regular collaborator with Sony, has appeared in "Bullet Train" and will portray Kraven the Hunter in the upcoming Marvel film. Fiennes, an Oscar-nominated actor, has starred in the "Harry Potter" franchise and "The King's Man".
Nia DaCosta, who directed "Candyman" (2021), is in talks to direct the second part of the trilogy. The plan is to shoot both films back-to-back.
The "28 Years Later" trilogy promises to bring star power and a fresh take on the zombie genre, building anticipation for the return of Boyle and Garland to the helm of this iconic franchise.
