AceShowbiz - Shannen Doherty has opened up about her desire to pay tribute to her late father, John Thomas Doherty Jr., with a tattoo, but has decided against it due to concerns about infection.

During an episode of her podcast, "Let's Be Clear with Shannen Doherty", where she reunited with her ex Rob Weiss, the 53-year-old actress discussed her decision to forgo the ink. Doherty explained that she cannot get infections and that she does not want to take the risk.

"I mean, I want one like right down my side. I've been wanting it, my dad's name," she said, referring to her father, who passed away in 2010.

Weiss offered to recommend a reputable tattoo artist, but Doherty declined. "I'm just like it's alright, I don't need it," she said. "It's also once you get, you know, like I can't get infections - there's a whole, not like you're gonna get something from the tattoo."

Doherty's decision to avoid tattoos aligns with her newfound appreciation for peace and calm after her cancer diagnosis. She explained, "For me now, I don't want to do the grind anymore in my life because it's one of the beautiful things that cancer has really taught me, is to appreciate the peace."

Doherty was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 and achieved remission in 2017. However, in 2020, the cancer returned and was classified as Stage 4. Last June, she disclosed that the disease had spread to her brain and was terminal.

In addition to her decision regarding the tattoo, Doherty has been selling and giving away items in storage to make things easier for her mother, Rosa, in the event of her passing. "My priority at the moment is my mom - I know it's going to be hard on her if I pass away before her," Doherty said. "I don't want her to have a bunch of stuff to deal with."
