The first in line to the British throne has canceled the scheduled appearance at memorial service for King Constantine of Greece after his wife announced cancer diagnosis.

AceShowbiz - Prince William has withdrawn from the memorial service for his godfather, King Constantine of Greece, due to a "personal matter" amid his wife Kate Middleton's ongoing cancer treatment.

The Princess of Wales announced on Friday, March 22 that she is undergoing treatment for cancer discovered in post-operative tests following abdominal surgery in January.

William was scheduled to participate in the service of thanksgiving at St. George's Chapel in Windsor Castle honoring his godfather, who passed away in January 2023. However, Kensington Palace announced that he could not attend due to the personal matter, later clarifying that the Duchess of Wales is "doing well."

Other members of the royal family attended the memorial service, including Queen Camilla, Prince Andrew, Princess Beatrice, Princess Anne, and Zara Tindall.

Kate Middleton shared her cancer diagnosis in a personal video message, expressing that having William by her side is a source of comfort and reassurance. She requested privacy during her treatment, expressing her desire to focus on her recovery.

William had previously missed Constantine's funeral in January due to his absence on the Greek royal family's guest list. His cousin, Lady Gabriella Kingston, attended the funeral in his place. The former Olympian was buried privately at Tatoi Palace in Greece.

The Greek royal family has close ties to the British royal family through Queen Elizabeth's husband, Prince Philip, who was a royal of Greek and Danish blood. William is even a godfather to one of Prince Pavlos' children, Constantine Alexios.
