With the common use of social media to communicate with fans, many celebrities master at least basic skills of photography and Photoshop to post their own photos. However, the result isn't always flawless.
Over the years, a lot of celebrities have been caught editing their photos to create the picture-perfect life. While perfect photos can raise suspicion that they are not real, some other mistakes are too blatant to be missed. Learning from their embarrassing experiences to avoid the same mistakes, here are a number of celebrities who have been caught in worst Photoshop fails.
1. Madonna
Madonna always wants to defy her age with alleged numerous plastic surgeries and filter, but one time it got out of hand. In 2021, the singer was called out by TikToker Amelia Goldie's for using her body to promote her album "Rebel Heart". Madge plastered her face onto the TikToker's body and the result wasn't even good, leaving fans confused. Despite the backlash, the "Like a Virgin" hitmaker never responded to the allegations.
2. Prince Harry
Prince Harry may still receive royal treatment despite stepping down as a working royal in 2020, but he no longer had the best social media team. In 2023, he was roasted online after he was caught editing a new headshot for his role as chief impact officer at mental health charity BetterUp. He had considerably more hair in the publicity shot than he had when attending a charity event just days before.
3. Ariana Grande
Arianators may agree that Ariana Grande already looks pretty in person, but her team did not seem to be satisfied with an original picture to promote her new single in 2015. After the "Yes, And?" songstress shared the photo, eagle-eyed fans noticed something was off with the size of her right hand. Her thumb was harrowingly long. As fans noticed the enormous edit, the "Wicked" star quickly disabled the comments on the post.
4. Kris Jenner
For the Kardashian-Jenner girls whose lives are constantly put under the spotlight, they can't escape the trap of photo editing. Kris Jenner once took airbrushing too far when she shared her wrinkle-free photo with Gordon Ramsay. Fans learned the truth after the chef posted an original version of the picture and the contrast differences showed where it had been altered.
5. Justin Bieber
Justin Bieber might not have asked for it, but he couldn't deny that his photo for Calvin Klein's 2015 campaign wasn't real. The Canadian star left fans swooned in the altered image with his chiseled abs and muscular arms, but they were actually the results of airbrush and body enhancements.
6. Aubrey O'Day
Aubrey O'Day "borrowed" images from others for her vacation pictures and she wasn't even apologetic for it. The former Danity Kane member was once called out on TikTok for Photoshopping herself into a travel influencer's scenic photos. Not denying it, she responded, "If I want my Instagram to be curated like a museum of ART then that's what the f**k is going to happen."
7. Khloe Kardashian
The apple doesn't fall from the tree. Kris Jenner clearly didn't set a good example for her children when it comes to photo editing as Khloe Kardashian has also been caught in a similar gaffe. In one of ther social media photos, the Good American founder seemingly tried to create the illusion of her perfect body, only to end up with unusually big hand and disproportionately long fingers.
8. Chrissy Teigen
While many women would die to have Chrissy Teigen's body, she somehow chose to use another model's body. The cookbook author baffled fans when her photo to promote a pistachio-coloured dressing gown for her label Cravings saw her face Photoshopped onto another woman's body and they didn't even seem to put enough effort to make it look real.
9. Rihanna
Even Rihanna, or her team, could be insecure about her appearance. While the Barbadian singer is never afraid to show her skin in an array of revealing clothes, her photo from Barbados' annual Crop Over Festival was altered in one way or another. It was made obvious as the "Umbrella" hitmaker had two thumbs in the image, leaving her no space to deny it wasn't edited.
10. Kate Middleton
Kate Middleton tried to ease people's concerns about her whereabouts following her abdominal surgery in January by sharing a new photo, only to be left embarrassed. To mark Mother's Day, she shared the never-before-seen picture of her with her three children. However, several photo agencies quickly released a "kill notice" notification regarding the family picture. The Princess of Wales then issued an apology for it, admitting that she was just an "amateur photographer."
