AceShowbiz - Patrick Mahomes' father seemed unbothered by his run-in with the law. Patrick Mahomes Sr. was seen smiling in his mugshot after he got arrested on suspicion of a DWI in Texas over the weekend.
The 53-year-old was taken into custody on Saturday, February 3, and was booked in the Smith County Jail in Tyler, according to jail records. He is facing a charge of DWI for the third time or more. The athlete, however, has been released after posting $10,000 bond, according to TMZ.
This was not the first time Patrick Sr. was charged with a DWI offense. He was hit with the same charge in 2018, according to Bleacher Report. The father of three pleaded guilty and served 40 days in a county jail.
Prior to that, Patrick Sr. faced charges after getting into a one-car accident in 1994. He was also arrested and charged with public intoxication during a game between Texas Christian University (TCU) and Texas Tech, his son's alma mater, in 2016.
Patrick Sr.'s arrest came just ahead of his son's Super Bowl LVIII game against the San Francisco 49ers. Patrick Sr. himself was an MLB pitcher from 1992 to 2003, playing for the Boston Red Sox, New York Mets, Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs as well as the Pittsburg Pirates.
Patrick Sr. also earned himself a spot in the Sioux Falls Canaries Hall of Fame. For now, he is the host of "The Big Mahomes Show", a weekly podcast that "pulls the curtain back on professional sports with coverage of all things sports," according to the show's Instagram page.
Aside from Patrick Jr., Patrick Sr. shares son Jackson Mahomes with ex-wife Randi Martin. He is also a father to Zoe Mahomes, his daughter from a relationship following his split from Randi.
