Rumor has it that Eric Murphy popped the question to Jasmin Lawrence on her birthday two years after they went public with their relationship, but the report is now debunked.

AceShowbiz - Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence are not going to be in-laws anytime soon. Eddie's son Eric Murphy and Martin's daughter Jasmin Lawrence have been dating for over two years now and were recently swept in engagement rumor, but apparently there's no truth to the story.

It's unclear where the news first originated from, but Media Take Out heard that Eric allegedly proposed to Jasmin on her birthday. The outlet went on noting that it wasn't able to confirm the engagement news, but Jasmin did celebrate her 28th birthday on January 15.

However, Complex begged to differ. Without citing its source, the site claims it has confirmed that the engagement report was bogus. It, however, adds that the couple is looking forward to the possibility and their future together.

Eric and Jasmin went public with their relationship in 2021. At the time, the daughter of the "Bad Boys 4" star posted a sweet birthday tribute to her sweetheart on her Instagram page. "Happy birthday, my love!" she wrote in July 2021 along with sweet pictures of her and her boo. She added, "I'm so incredibly blessed to know you, to love you, and to have you by my side. Cheers to many more blessings, laughs, and beautiful memories! I love you so much!!"

The month before, Eric declared his love for Jasmin via his own social media account. Sharing snaps with his girlfriend, he wrote, "Head over heels in LOVE with YOU @jasmin_lawrence." He dubbed her "my other half" and added "equally yoked" as well "I love you" in the hashtags. She replied in the comments, "I LOVE YOU."

In June 2022, Martin joked that he would "try to get Eddie to pay" if their kids got married. Responding to his fellow comic's comment on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!", the "Dr. Dolittle" star said, "That's not how it goes."

The 61-year-old went on explaining to Etalk in a 2023 interview, "My daughter just got married, and I had to pay - really had to pay. You have to do the same, Martin. Don't try to switch it up - don't try to change no s**t, do no Hollywood switch."

"You're paying for the wedding. If it goes down, Martin is paying," he jokingly warned, before adding with a laugh, "And the wedding better be wonderful."
