Detroit Jingle Ball Enrages Swifties for Bringing Out Impersonator After Teasing Taylor Performance

The audience is visibly pissed after realizing they are tricked into believing that Taylor Swift would appear as a special guest for the city's edition of iHeartRadio's Jingle Ball show.

AceShowbiz - Detroit Jingle Ball could have done better with or without Taylor Swift. The music festival has come under fire after teasing the appearance of the 12-time Grammy winner, only to disappoint fans by bringing out an impersonator instead.

During the city's edition of iHeartRadio's Jingle Ball show which took place on Tuesday, December 5 at Little Caesars Arena, radio host Mojo In The Morning announced a special guest, "Taylor Swift." He said when introducing the secret performer, "She's arguably having the best year of anyone ever."

"Is anybody familiar with a song called 'Cruel Summer?' Does anybody know a song called 'Karma?' " he said, much to the audience's excitement. "In her Jingle Ball Era...make some noise, for... Trailer Swift."

But instead of Time's Person of the Year, an impersonator, played by Channel 955 producer Kristin Penrose, came onstage. Bringing a guitar, she rocked a white fringe dress with a pair of thigh-high black boots. The energy quickly soured as she performed an off-key version of "Fearless".

"What the f**k," an audience member was heard saying in a fan-taken video upon learning of the joke. Another took to social media to express their outrage as saying, "Went to the jingle ball last night and they hyped up a special guest like it was Taylor swift and it was a look a like named 'trailer swift' WHEN I TELL YOU I NEARLY HAD A HEART ATTACK? I was pissed."

Agreeing that it wasn't cool, another user commented, "Becauseā€¦ why would you do that?" Someone weighed in, "That's kinda crazy because these jingle ball events are all for iHeart's top radio stations in the country yet they did this...yikes."

"They're so wrong for this. Like, would they announce her as a performer and then bring out this imposter?" another questioned, as one other acknowledged, "I know swifties was mad."

Some other, however, got the joke, with one of them writing, "That's actually hilarious I'd be cracking up." Another similarly reacted, "That's really funny."

The stunt was to promote Channel 955's giveaway of Swift tickets to her show in Indianapolis in November 2024, when "The Eras Tour" returns stateside for more shows. The Anti-Hero songstress already performed in Detroit on the first leg of the tour.

Usher, Jelly Roll, Big Time Rush and Flo Rida were among the performers at the musical festival in Detroit.
