CBS' 'Young Sheldon' Announces End After 7 Seasons, Sets Finale Date

Starring Iain Armitage as the titular role, the 'Big Bang Theory' prequel follows the life of Sheldon Cooper, a 9-year-old child prodigy who is living with his family and attending high school in Texas.

AceShowbiz - CBS' "Young Sheldon" is scheduled to take its final bow after seven seasons. The network announced the news regarding "The Big Bang Theory" prequel in a statement on Tuesday, November 14.

Executive producers Steve Holland, Steven Molaro and Chuck Lorre said in a joint statement, "Being able to tell the origin of Sheldon Cooper, and expanding the story to include the entire Cooper family has been a wonderful experience."

They went on to express gratitude "to our fans for embracing this chapter of the Coopers these past six seasons, and on behalf of the entire 'Young Sheldon' family, we're excited to share this final season with you."

In a separate statement, Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, also addressed the news. "As a prequel to one of the biggest comedies, 'Young Sheldon' proved lightning can strike twice. It set itself apart with a remarkable cast that felt like a family from the first moment we saw them on screen and brought characters to life with unique heartfelt stories that drew audiences in from the start," she said.

"We extend a sincere thank you to executive producers Chuck Lorre, Steve Molaro and Steve Holland and the entire writing and producing teams for six wonderful seasons. We look forward to seeing their final season unfold and giving it a proper send off with the best episodes yet for their fans to enjoy," she continued.

"Young Sheldon", which first aired in 2017, follows the life of Sheldon Cooper, a 9-year-old child prodigy who is living with his family and attending high school in Texas. In addition to starring Iain Armitage in the titular role, the comedy series features Zoe Perry as Mary Cooper, Lance Barber as George Cooper, Montana Jordan as Georgie Cooper and Raegan Revord as Missy Cooper.

The final and seventh season of "Young Sheldon" is slated to premiere on February 15, 2024 on CBS. The beloved series will officially conclude its story with a one-hour series finale on May 16, 2024.
