In a new interview, Ruby Barker, who played Marina on the hit series, claims that no one reached out to her when she suffered 'two psychotic breaks from that show.'

AceShowbiz - "Bridgerton" star Ruby Barker slammed Netflix and Shondaland for failing to support her when she was struggling during filming for the hit series. In a new interview, Barker claimed that no one helped her when she suffered "two psychotic breaks from that show."
The actress, who played Marina on the Regency drama, shared on Oxford University's "The LOAF Podcast" that she had her first breakdown in 2019 and her second in 2022. "Not a single person from Netflix, not a single person from Shondaland, since I have had two psychotic breaks from that show, have even contacted me or even emailed me to ask me if I'm OK or ask me if I would benefit from any sort of aftercare or support," she said. "Nobody."
Further explaining her experience on the set, the British star revealed, "During the filming, I was deteriorating. It was a really tormenting place for me to be because my character was very alienated, very ostracized, on her own under these horrible circumstances." Her character Marina was isolated because she had to hide a disgraceful pregnancy.
According to Barker, she was admitted to the hospital after filming the first season of "Bridgerton". "It was really covered up and kept on the down-low because the show was going to be coming out," she recalled
"My life was changing drastically overnight and yet there was still no support and there still hasn't been any support all that time," the 26-year-old continued. "So I was trying really, really hard to act like it was fine … that I could work and that it wasn't a problem."
Meanwhile, Barker hinted at her second psychotic break in an Instagram post. "I was carrying the weight of the world on my back, and now I am at the point where I have a diagnosis, and I will talk to you about that at another time," she wrote in a now-deleted post back in May 2022.
She added at the time, "I can't carry on the way that I've been carrying on. I need to change, so that's what I am trying to do. I want to survive, and I will survive. I am going to."
