After her husband filed for divorce, the former host of 'The Real' explains she has learned to teach herself 'healthy love' by 'listening to myself, feeling my feelings' and 'allowing myself to be vulnerable.'

AceShowbiz - Jeannie Mai has been taking care of herself amid painful separation from Jeezy (Young Jeezy). After her husband filed for divorce, the former host of "The Real" revealed that she has been teaching herself "healthy love."

Speaking to PEOPLE on Friday, October 20, the 44-year-old TV personality elaborated that she has been "listening to myself, feeling my feelings, allowing myself to be vulnerable because that is my strength, it's my superpower." She went on to say, "And really understanding that as long as I'm growing, I'm on the right path."

During the chat, Jeannie also spilled that she focuses on "loving" herself. On the reason why, she explained, "If I love me the right way and the healthy way, I'll not only know what healthy love looks like around me, but I'll also know how to pour healthy love into the person that matters most in my life, which is [my daughter] Monaco."

The "Raid the Cage" co-host, who previously deemed Monaco her "North Star," shared, "Every single thing that I do today is a reflection of how I want to provide for her and protect her." She continued, "So she is definitely that person who's leading the light for me."

Jeannie's statement came a little over one month after her husband Jeezy submitted divorce papers. According to court documents obtained by The Atlanta Journal Constitution on September 14, Jeezy allegedly wrote that their marriage is "irretrievably broken" with "no hope for reconciliation." In addition, he is seeking joint custody of their daughter Monaco.

In the wake of the divorce filing, Jeannie has opened up about how she is handling the situation. "I'm not going to lie, it takes every day, to just really sit and just be quiet in your thoughts ... take care of me. But one thing I know is, 'You give God your pain, He will give you his Power.' ... I'm just taking it day by day," she said when making an appearance on "Sherri" earlier in October.

As for Jeezy, he claimed that his "love and respect" for Jeannie remain the same despite their separation. "The decision to end this chapter in my life was not made impulsively and comes with a heavy heart. Despite this, my love and respect for Jeannie remains and the time we spent together holds a cherished place in my heart," the 46-year-old rapper issued a statement to the press on Thursday, October 19.
