When addressing speculation that she was born into a rich family, the 'Summertime Sadness' songstress claims that her family 'had absolutely no money' during her childhood.

AceShowbiz - Lana Del Rey has clarified that she doesn't come from a privileged background. While she rose to fame and scored a global hit with her 2011 single "Video Games", the singer/songwriter has insisted that she did not grow up in a rich family.
The Grammy Award winner revealed her family's struggles during her childhood when responding to a speculation that she grew up rich. In the comments section of one of her recent Instagram posts, someone claimed, "It's so depressing to grow up rich. And then get even richer. Omg what will she ever do?"
However, Lana has said that it couldn't be further from the truth. Replying to the fan's comment, she wrote, "We had absolutely no money. And there ya go. That's a little story the news loved to assign to me.... that was back when they were allowed to just write lies about people."
The 38-year-old went on divulging details about her past, "I grew up in a mountain town in a little house, and we struggled as much as everybody else in the town of 900, there is no other truth than that- if the story was true, I would own it just like I own my other issues."
"But I'm not gonna pretend like I can own what having money would've been like or felt like- until I made some when I was when I was 26," she stressed, before insisting, "There are people who are well-known, who grew up rich - I'm not one of them."
The clarification regarding her background aside, Lana has teased fans about her new music. On Wednesday, October 18, she took to her Instagram page to share a painting of a house which could be the artwork of her new song titled "Suburban House".
In the caption, she wrote, "@hollymacve and I have our song suburban house coming out in few days. One of my absolute favorite songs. Gonna love it. @zachary_dawes." She also shared a picture of her collaborator Holly Macve.
