AceShowbiz - Lil Wayne and Emimen may have been good friends over the years as they've teamed up on several projects. However, the "Lollipop" rapper admitted that he was initially "scared" when he contacted the "Mockingbird" hitmaker for a collaboration, which was the 2010 hit "Drop the World".
The 40-year-old made the confession when speaking to The New York Times for its Hip Hop's 50th-anniversary feature. "I was scared, actually, when I called EMINEM for a song. That is a monster. He must have the same thing I have with words. Like, we can't get them out of our heads," he said.
"Every meaning, every aspect of them. Things that rhyme, we hear it. I already know the gift and the curse that he has," the Young Money Entertainment founder continued. "And I love to hear the way he puts it together."
Wayne went on to recall, "When I was on The Tonight Show, I was playing Pictionary. And my thing was Harry Potter. So I drew a pot, and they got that." He added, "I drew a man with a face, and I put a bunch of hair around him. They were like, 'Wait, he's hairy.' I' I'm, like, Harry Potter. We plan our words. At all times."
"Drop the World" appears on Wayne's "Rebirth" album. Prior to that, Wayne and Em worked together for Drake's 2009 song "Forever" along with Kanye West. Later in 2010, the pair joined forces for "No Love", which is lifted from Eminem's "Recovery" album.
Eminem himself once sang praise for Wayne I love when rappers are able to tell a story and don’t compromise any of the punchlines. "I never got a chance to tell you but, yo... 'Mona Lisa', your two verses on that s**t... gotta be one of the top five verses of all time," the "Not Afraid" spitter told his pal.
"I love when rappers are able to tell a story and don’t compromise any of the punchlines," the 50-year-old continued. "It's great to see you and me still doing it. It's definitely an art to this s**t and, man, you got it mastered."
