The 'Renfield' actor and the 'Bridgerton' star, along with several other contenders, reportedly advance to first in-person tests with DC co-heads Peter Safran and James Gunn.

AceShowbiz - James Gunn is one step closer to finding the new Superman and Lois Lane for his "Superman: Legacy". After months of search, Nicholas Hoult and Phoebe Dynevor have reportedly made it to the shortlists of actors to star in the upcoming movie.
According to Deadline, both actors, along with several other contenders, advance to a second round of testing. They will be having the first in-person tests with DC co-heads Peter Safran and Gunn, who is writing and directing the pic, around Father's Day weekend or the Monday or Tuesday after.
But the "X-Men: First Class" star and the "Bridgerton" breakout star are not securing any roles in the project just yet. The 33-year-old British hunk is reportedly competing with David Corenswet and Tom Brittney for the role of Clark Kent a.k.a. Superman, while the 28-year-old beauty, who is also a Brit, is expected to test for Lois Lane along with Emma Mackey and Rachel Brosnahan.
Sources additionally note that the test deals are still being negotiated and haven't all closed, but as of now these names are expected to participate in future auditions.
While Hoult has previously been reported circling a role in "Superman: Legacy", The Hollywood Reporter previously spilled that he was tipped to play the classic villain Lex Luthor. "The studio has loved him since '[Mad Max: Fury Road]'," a source told the site in May.
As for Brosnahan, who has been said to have delivered an "outstanding" audition, she has responded to the casting rumors during an appearance on "The View" on May 15. "I mean, look, take everything you read on the internet with a grain of salt is my first piece of advice," she coyly said at first.
While she neither confirmed nor denied the news, the Emmy-winning "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" actress added, "Look, it would be extraordinary. I grew up watching Lois Lane, this incredibly talented journalist, far from a damsel in distress, and I would jump at the chance if it arose."
