The 'Flowers' singer made a brief appearance as Ravager team member Mainframe in 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3' post-credit scene, but the role has been recast for the third and final installment.

AceShowbiz - Miley Cyrus and Marvel fans may be wondering if she will return in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3". The singer/actress had a cameo role in the second film, but bad news for her fans, she will not be returning for the the upcoming movie.

If one may recall, the former "Hannah Montana" star made a brief appearance as Ravager team member Mainframe in post-credit scene at the end of "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2". She's featured in a Ravager funeral to honor Yondu (Michael Rooker), with Sylvester Stallone's Stakar Ogord also making an appearance.

While Stallone will reprise his role in the third film, Cyrus' MCU role has been recast. According to Collider, the character is now played by Tara Strong, a well-known voice actor who also plays Miss Minutes on "Loki".

It's currently unclear why the former "The Voice" coach didn't return for "GOTG 3", but Strong has confirmed her role in the movie by sharing the news via Twitter.

Back in 2017, director James Gunn explained why he cast Cyrus as the robot. "I was admiring the tone of Miley Cyrus' voice. I find her funny and likable and sweet," he told BuzzFeed News. "So I was like, I think she would be a funny person to have as a voice. So we contacted her, and she said yes. She came in and recorded, and she was a delight to work with."

In 2021, the two reminisced her role in the movie. When a Cyrus fan account tweeted a clip from the scene along with a caption, "Who remembers Miley voicing 'Mainframe' in 'Guardians Of The Galaxy 2'?" Gunn replied, "Me" and tagged Cyrus. She responded, "I miss you guys so much," repeating her line from the movie.

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" is billed as the last installment in the "GOTG" trilogy. Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper and Sean Gunn are among the returning stars, with Will Poulter being added to play Adam Warlock. It will open in U.S. theaters on May 5.
