The mom of three, who previously called out Katy for her 'hurtful' mom-shaming remark, shocks the judges when she announces her decision to exit the singing competition show.

AceShowbiz - The pressure was high in the new episode of "American Idol" as it's already entering Hollywood Week. While most contestants were preparing their performances to impress the judges, Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan, one hopeful shockingly announced her decision to quit the competition.

Sara Beth revealed in the Sunday, April 2 episode that she didn't know if singing professionally was her "dream." The young mom, who previously called out Katy for her "hurtful" mom-shaming remark, said, "I don't even really know what show business is. I don't feel like I fit the mold, so I'm trying to figure this all out."

Despite her doubts, she wowed the judges with her acoustic performance of "Roxanne" by The Police. However, the good responses were apparently not enough to make her stay as she said she was quitting the competition, right there onstage.

"This opportunity is really rad, but this is actually going to be my last performance because my heart's at home, so I'm going to get home to my babies," Sara explained. "They really need me."

After Sara walked offstage, the judges were left confused. "What just happened? She's gonna leave?" Lionel asked. "That was a mistake," Bryan chimed, while Katy hoped to be able to talk Sara out of quitting. "No, we're gonna figure this out. The thing I see in her is her fighting spirit," she said.

The judges then called Sara back to the stage. "I know life is scary," Katy told her. "I also know that it's easier to walk away than to be rejected. But then, I also know that you lose out on your fullest potential. And I know that you love your family … I know that as a mother, but remember: Self-love is just as big as motherly love. Don't leave the competition."

Sara responded with a "thank you" before walking offstage again. "I feel like I'm not gonna win the show anyway, so I might as well just go home," she told a producer. After the results were revealed, Katy once again tried to make Sara stay as saying, "Sara Beth, you've opened a door that you never thought you would open, and you got a yes, and you may get another yes in the future. Do not give up."

"I appreciate you," Sara said before walking away. She added, "I am really humbled and grateful and Katy had some really nice things to say. I wish my kids were a little older. I understand what a big opportunity this is, but I want to go home. I'm sure when I get home, I'll probably regret it. I probably will go, 'Sara, you should have stayed, and you should have done it.' "

Last month, Sara shared in a TikTok video that she was hurt by Katy's comment when she revealed that she's a mom of three. During her audition in the March 5 episode, Sara quipped, "If Katy lays on the table, I think I'm going to pass out." To that, Katy responded, "Honey, you've been laying on the table too much."

Of the exchange, the California native said in the TikTok clip, "It was embarrassing to have that on TV. It was hurtful." She continued, "I think that women supporting and uplifting other women is so cool and I think that mom shaming is super lame. I think that it's hard enough to be a mom and it's hard enough to be a woman."
