In a new interview, the 'Succession' actor believes that the Duchess of Sussex 'clearly' had 'ambitions' of joining the royal family before their royal wedding in 2018.

AceShowbiz - Brian Cox weighed in on Meghan Markle's relationship with Prince Harry. In a new interview, the "Succession" actor believed that the Duchess of Sussex "clearly" had "ambitions" of joining the royal family before their royal wedding in 2018.

Speaking in a Haute Living New York interview which was published on Wednesday, March 16, Brian believed that she "knew what she was getting into" marrying Prince Harry. The actor had "the childhood dreams of marrying Prince Charming and all that s**t we see as fantasy that could be our lives in our dreams."

The 76-year-old shared that Meghan shouldn't be too surprised by the drama that she and Harry created after exiting the royal family. "You can't go into a system where somebody's already been trained to behave in a certain kind of way and then just expect them to cut themselves off," he explained. "I mean, she knew what she was getting into."

Elsewhere in the interview, the Emmy-winning actor said that he hoped to see the United Kingdom moving on from the royals. "In my opinion, we shouldn't have a monarchy," Brian shared. "It's not viable; it doesn't make any sense. F**k it."

Back in December 2022, the Golden Globe winner defended the royal couple. During his appearance on "Good Morning Britain", Brian pointed out that they endured "something clearly traumatic" before stepping back.

Meanwhile, Meghan and Harry may reunite with British royal family members at King Charles III's upcoming coronation in May. The pair, who are currently residing in California, are invited to the event, though they have yet to clarify whether they will accept the 74-year-old monarch's invitation.

Despite that, the palace is reportedly preparing for the Sussexes' presence. "Whatever happens, Harry and Meghan will always be the ones in the headlines," a palace insider previously told Page Six. "They do hold the upper hand."
