AceShowbiz - Rihanna has made sure that Patrick Mahomes receives the compliment he deserves. The Barbadian songstress has called the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback a "great" player after Brandon Marshall pranked him with fake compliment from the singer.
In a video shared by Brandon on his "I Am Athlete" podcast Instagram page on Thursday, February 9, he began by explaining to Rihanna how he pranked Patrick. "Patrick Mahomes, I pranked him yesterday. And I said Rihanna said that you're the greatest quarterback ever. He blushed. He smiled. And then at the end I was like, bro I'm lying," he admitted. He then asked Rihanna, who chuckled as she listened, "Can you tell him something nice?"
Hearing that, Rih jokingly said, "That's so mean. He is mean, O.K.," while pointing to Brandon. The "Diamonds" hitmaker then added, "I'm so sorry you went through that. I still think you're great."
"See? There's still nice people in the world," Brandon replied. "He's a hater though," Rihanna said, as the 38-year-old former athlete laughed. Seemingly expecting to redeem himself with the video, he then captioned it, "What @badgalriri said!! @patrickmahomes you can smile now."
Brandon pranked Patrick during a press conference with the NFL MVP. "Rihanna came out and said that you are the greatest quarterback ever," he said in a video which went viral on Wednesday. "Hearing that, how does that make you feel?"
"It makes you feel great," the 27-year-old proudly replied. He shared that his family member is more excited about the halftime show than the game, referring to Rih's upcoming performance, before adding, "Whatever Rihanna says is like the gospels, so I'm glad that she went with me for that honor."
"She didn't. She didn't, I was messing with you," Brandon replied. Patrick looked defeated after being told the truth. "Man, you got me up here smilin'," he said, while the media laughed at Brandon's prank.
It's unclear if Patrick has found out about Rihanna's reaction to the prank. His team will be up against Philadelphia Eagles at Super Bowl LVII on Sunday, February 12, during which Rih will headline the halftime show.
