The 'Age of Adaline' actress is trending on the Elon Musk-owned app after it's confirmed that she will star in the big-screen adaptation of Colleen Hoover's bestselling novel, with many voicing their shock.

AceShowbiz - Blake Lively's upcoming role has sent social media in shambles. The actress has divided her fans after it's revealed that she will next star in the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover's bestselling novel "It Ends With Us".

News broke on Thursday, January 26 that the "Gossip Girl" alum, who is currently pregnant with her fourth child with Ryan Reynolds, is cast in the upcoming movie alongside Justin Baldoni, who is also directing the film. While their roles are yet to be confirmed, the actress and the "Jane the Virgin" alum are expected to play redheaded florist Lily Bloom and doctor Ryle Kincaid, respectively.

Per the book's synopsis, "It Ends With Us" follows small-town girl Lily who hasn't always had it easy, but that's never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She's come a long way from the small town where she grew up-she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business.

And when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily's life seems too good to be true. As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan - her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.

Lively will also serve as executive producer along with Hoover, Steve Sarowitz, Andrew Calof and Baldoni on behalf of Wayfarer, which is also co-financing. Alex Saks will produce for Saks Picture Company, along with Jamey Heath, who will produce on behalf of Wayfarer Studios. The project is currently in development with Wayfarer Studios and Sony Pictures.

Following the casting news, Lively's name soon became trending on Twitter, with many voicing their shock. Fans tweeted out memes with the captions that read, "me trying to stop blake lively from doing that colleen hoover movie" and "me going back in time to stop blake lively from auditioning for it ends with us."

Another begged with the actress, "blake lively pls don't do it." A fourth fan wrote, "not blake lively playing lily bloom in that colleen hoover movie adaptation please baby i'm gonna get you out of there."

One other commented, "BLAKE LIVELY WHERE ANY OTHER JOBS NOT AVAILABLE TF IS THIS." Not a fan of Hoover's book, someone else said, "colleen hoover and her nasty book coming for no other than blake lively like LEAVE MOTHER ALONE."

Meanwhile, fans of the novel were excited to hear the news. "IM CRYING I did not expect this at ALL and I am just so happyyyyy," one person reacted. Some TikTokers said Lively reminded them more of the titular character from Colleen's book "Verity", while another fan advocated for Penn Badgley or Logan Lerman to be cast as Atlas, with some saying they pictured Theo James as Ryle.

"It Ends With Us" was first published in 2016, but it only recently blew up on TikTok. The novel won the 2016 Goodreads Choice Award for Best Romance. Hoover released the sequel, "It Starts With Us", in 2022 and it landed on BookTok's top 10 trending searches of the year.
