AceShowbiz - Ashanti made people wonder if she's hinting at a possible romantic reunion with Nelly following a steamy performance earlier this month. The "Foolish" singer has now answered the burning question from fans.

During her interview on "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen", Ashanti admitted that she was shocked by the number of fans who asked them to get back together in the wake of their joint performance at Power 98.3 and 96.1's Under the Mistletoe concert in Arizona on December 4.

"My reaction was wow. It was a lot of comments and a lot of people wanting that," the 42-year-old shared. Of their possible romantic reunion, the Long Island native said, "What I will say is we're in a better place. You know, cause before, it was like [mimics fighting]. But we're cool now. Yeah, we have some conversations, you know. So it's cool."

Host Andy then blatantly asked if that meant they wouldn't be getting back together. In response to that, the "Happy" hitmaker appeared to struggle for words as he told the host, "I mean, I don't…," before making a series of exasperated sounds.

Ashanti and Nelly previously sent fans into a frenzy after putting out an intimate performance of their collaborative 2008 hit "Body on Me" at the concert. During the performance, the former couple showed evident chemistry as they danced and grinded to each other.

The two started dating in 2003 before seemingly calling it quits in 2013. At the time, Ashanti hinted at their split during a Hot 97 interview as she jokingly asked, "Who said we had a relationship?"

However, she told the radio station that same year that she and Nelly "talked about a lot of things" when asked if they ever talked about having kids together. "Things happen. People get hurt, people have resentment. People carry old things with them. Things just happen in real life. You go through things," she explained.

Later in 2014, Ashanti called the "Ride Wit Me" rapper her first real love before insisting that there was no beef between the two. "It's a very small industry. Are we gonna see each other? Yeah… I'm not bitter," she told Hot 97. "I feel like in a relationship, it's like ping-pong. Sometimes you love them, sometimes you hate them. That's a real statement, everyone goes through that."
