Nancy Meyers, who directed, wrote and co-produced the 2006 romantic comedy film, says she received a lot of DMs about the possible sequel, which is sadly 'not true.'

AceShowbiz - It looks like that Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law and Jack Black aren't going to get together for another "The Holiday" in the near future. Contrary to recent reports, director Nancy Meyers has said that currently there's no plans to make a sequel to the 2006 rom-com.

Meyers, who also wrote and co-produced the festive blockbuster, took to Instagram to set things straight on the reports that a possible sequel was in development. Sharing a screenshot of Daily Mail Celebrity's tweet about it, she wrote in the caption, "So many DM's about this - sorry but it's not true."

Needless to say, many were left disappointed after learning the truth. Kris Jenner was one of those fans hoping for a sequel, leaving several weary face emojis in the comment. Katie Couric reacted with a broken heart emoji, while The Academy's official account commented with three crying emojis.

Interior design author Will Taylor added, "Damn The Daily Fail for gaslighting us all! At least we still have the perfection that is the OG movie to comfort us." Page Six's chief reporter Francesca Bacardi, however, thinks it's the right thing to do because "you cannot add to an already perfect movie."

The Sun newspaper was actually the first to report the news about the supposed "The Holiday" sequel. A source told the publication, "The plan is to start filming next year. The main talent are all signed up." A film insider added, "The plan is to start rolling on scenes next year, primarily in the U.K. and in Europe, but the main talent are all signed up and on board."

The source claimed, "It's one of the most successful movies of its kind and still enjoyed every year by millions of fans around the world - it makes perfect sense to revisit these characters and find out what became of their lives after they hooked up. It'll be funny, poignant, and heartwarming - just what everyone wants for Christmas."

"The Holiday" stars Winslet and Diaz as Iris and Amanda, two lovelorn women from opposite sides of the Atlantic Ocean, who arrange a home exchange to escape heartbreak during the Christmas and holiday season. Law and Black were cast as their love interests.

The proved to be a success at the box office, grossing over $205 million worldwide against a budget of $85 million and has gone on to become staple seasonal viewing.
