The disgraced actor has reportedly held the credit card account since 2011 and is expected to resolve the issue when he and his estranged wife Elizabeth Chambers finalize their divorce.

AceShowbiz - With Armie Hammer hitting the pause button on his acting career since he was hit with the abuse allegations, he is likely suffering a major financial setback. The actor is reportedly owing over $66,000 to AmEx in unpaid credit card bill that has spurred a lawsuit.

According to legal documents obtained by The Blast, American Express claims the great-grandson of the oil tycoon Armand Hammer has an outstanding balance of nearly $67,000 on his cards. The credit card company says he owes the large sum for unpaid charges and/or cash advances, plus balance transfers.

It's unclear when Armie racked up the balance, but AmEx says he's had the account since 2011. TMZ additionally reports that the company has tried to collect payment from the "Call Me by Your Name" star in the past, but he hasn't satisfied the balance, hence they're taking him to court over it.

A source allegedly with direct knowledge of the situation tells the site that it was a joint account Armie had with his estranged wife Elizabeth Chambers. It is expected that the actor will resolve the issue once he and the mother of his two children finalize their divorce.

Armie, who had been holed up on the Cayman Islands since he was accused of cannibalism and rape, was reported to be taking on a job selling timeshares at a resort. Responding to the reports, his lawyer Andrew Brettler told PEOPLE, "I don't know anything about this."

He also slammed the interest in the story, adding, "If Armie is, in fact, selling timeshares, I think it's s***** that the media seems to be shaming him for having a 'normal job'." He said in a statement to Entertainment Weekly, "I can't confirm or deny it because Armie hasn't addressed it."

Armie has reportedly since moved to Robert Downey Jr.'s house as he continues to conquer sobriety. "He is shacking up in one of Robert's houses. He's sober and has been spending a lot of time with good friends and with his kids," a source told PageSix in September.
