In a new interview, Justin Bieber's manager claims a lot of things 'got lost in translation' when he tried to offer a deal to the 'Cardigan' singer, assuming that she would be 'excited' to work with him.

AceShowbiz - Scooter Braun has regrets over the way Taylor Swift catalog acquisition was handled. Looking back at his fallout with the country-turned-pop superstar, the music manager blamed his "arrogance" for getting in the way of forming a good relationship with the 32-year-old artist after he acquired Big Machine Music Group in 2019.

In a September 27 interview with NPR's Jay Williams, Scooter shared a lesson he learned from the drama. "I learned an important lesson," he said. "When I did that deal, I was under a very strict NDA with the gentleman who owned it, and I couldn't tell any artist. I wasn't allowed to. I wasn't legally allowed to."

"I was excited to work with every artist on the label," the longtime manager of Justin Bieber recounted. "So when we finalized the deal, I started making phone calls to say, 'Hey, I'm a part of this.' And before I could even do that-I made four phone calls; I started to do those phone calls-all hell broke loose."

Scooter believes a lot of things "got lost in translation" when he tried to hammer a deal with Taylor, insinuating he never had a proper conversation with the Grammy-winning musician. "I think that when you have a conflict with someone, it's very hard to resolve it if you're not willing to have a conversation," he explained. "So the regret I have there is that I made the assumption that everyone, once the deal was done, was going to have a conversation with me, see my intent, see my character and say, great, let's be in business together. And I made that assumption with people that I didn't know."

"I learned an important lesson from that, that I can never make that assumption again," the 41-year-old continued. "I can't put myself in a place of arrogance to think that someone would just be willing to have a conversation and be excited to work with me. I don't know these people."

Scooter also stressed in the interview that he's "going to move on" from the controversy, while the catalog acquisition has prompted Taylor to re-record two of her albums, "Fearless" and "Red".

Back in 2019, Taylor called out Scooter for acquiring her albums' masters. "I learned about Scooter Braun's purchase of my masters as it was announced to the world," she wrote. "All I could think about was the incessant, manipulative bullying I've received at his hands for years."

When she tried to regain ownership of her catalog, Taylor claimed, "My team attempted to enter into negotiations with Scooter Braun. Scooter's team wanted me to sign an ironclad NDA stating I would never say another word about Scooter Braun unless it was positive, before we could even look at the financial records of BMLG (which is always the first step in a purchase of this nature). So, I would have to sign a document that would silence me forever before I could even have a chance to bid on my own work."

She said negotiations never got underway, because of the strict NDA demands. "He would never even quote my team a price. These master recordings were not for sale to me," she declared.
