Admitting to being a fan of the comedian's standup, the 'Thor: Love and Thunder' star finds the 'Saturday Night Live' alum 'so bloody funny' when they met on the set of the David O. Russell movie.

AceShowbiz - Christian Bale had to restrict his interaction with Chris Rock off camera while filming "Amsterdam". A self-declared fan of the comedian, the Academy Award-winning actor has revealed that he had to stop talking to his co-star because Rock is "so bloody funny" that it prevented him from getting into character.
In an interview with IndieWire, the Batman depicter in Chris Nolan's film trilogy recalled his meeting with Rock on the set of the David O. Russell movie. "I remember his first day, I was excited to meet him, I'm a big fan of his standup," the 48-year-old began telling his story. "Then he arrives, and he's doing some things..."
The British actor went on recounting, "David [O. Russell] told him to tell me some stories that I didn't know he was gonna tell me, which is the way David works often. And I was loving it. But Chris is so bloody funny, and I found that I couldn't act, because I was just becoming Christian laughing at Chris Rock."
Bale shared, "So, I had to go to him, I went, 'Mate, I love talking to you, and we have mutual friends, but I can't do it anymore. Because David didn't ask me to make this film so he could just watch me giggle. He wants me to be Burt and I'm forgetting how to be Burt.' "
But Bale didn't blame Rock at all. The "Batman Begins" star, who often takes extra measures to prepare for roles, said that distancing himself from his co-stars is just part of his process. "I often meet these incredible people, but I isolate myself," he explained. "Because if I get to know people too much, I find I just don't believe what I'm doing in the scene."
In "Amsterdam", Bale stars alongside Margot Robbie and John David Washington as three friends who become the prime suspects in a murder. Set in the 1930s, the period mystery comedy film boasts a star-studded cast that also includes Rock, Anya Taylor-Joy, Zoe Saldana, Mike Myers, Michael Shannon, Timothy Olyphant, Andrea Riseborough, Taylor Swift, Matthias Schoenaerts, Alessandro Nivola, Rami Malek and Robert De Niro.
Directed and written by Oscar-nominated director Russell, it had its world premiere at Alice Tully Hall in New York City on September 18 and will be released in theaters in the U.S. on October 7.
