The 'Abbott Elementary' creator/star, who took home the Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series award at the big event, graciously accepts the TV host's apology as she appears in a new episode of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!'

AceShowbiz - Quinta Brunson doesn't hold a grudge on Jimmy Kimmel after he crashed her award acceptance speech at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards. The "Abbott Elementary" star, who took home the Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series award on the Monday, September 12, graciously accepted the TV host's apology as she appeared in a new episode of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!".

In the Wednesday, September 14 episode of the late-night show, Jimmy told Quinta that he was sorry for pulling focus during her Emmy acceptance speech. After playing a video of the controversial moment, the host admitted, "That was a dumb comedy bit. We thought it would be funny, I lost and I drank too much and then I had to be dragged out on the stage."

Aware of the backlash, Jimmy continued, "And then people got upset. They said I stole your moment. Maybe I did and I'm very sorry if I did do that. I'm sorry I did do that, actually. And also, the last thing I want to do is upset you because I think so much of you. I think you know that, I hope you know that."

In response to that, Quinta said, "Jimmy, let me just say thank you. It is very kind of you to say that." The "Abbott Elementary" creator/star added, "I honestly was in such a moment of just having a good time. Like, I won my first Emmy. I was up there, like, you know, happy."

"I was wrapped up in the moment and just having a good time. I don't know, I didn't see any of that. I saw you and I saw Will Arnett and my Emmy, I was just like, 'Oh my God, I'm having so much fun.' Thank you, that's kind but honestly I had a good night."

The actress also shared that she was cool with Jimmy despite the antics during a virtual panel for ABC's presentation at the TCA's summer press tour on Wednesday. "I'm anticipating that we are going to have a good old fashioned time," she said. "I have talked with Jimmy since, and I think no matter what, it's important to just showcase that 'Abbott Elementary' is premiering next week. It's gonna be a good time and you'll probably just have to tune in and watch."

Fellow "Abbott Elementary" star Lisa Ann Walter added, "I thought it played funny in the room." Sheryl Lee Ralph, however, didn't think it was funny. "I was absolutely confused. I didn't know what was going on," she divulged. "I was like, 'I wish that man would just get up off of the ground.' And then I realized it was Jimmy Kimmel, and I was like, 'Ooh, the disrespect, Jimmy!' But that's just me."

Sheryl, who won Emmy for best supporting comedy actress that night, then sarcastically added, "Sorry! I'm so sorry, it was lovely that he was lying on the floor during her wonderful acceptance speech!" She went on to say that she confronted the "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" host afterward as saying, "I told him, too, to his face, and he understood."
