To be released on Netflix in December, the sequel to Rian Johnson's 2019 mystery film brings back Daniel Craig as master detective Benoit Blanc who anticipates a murder case on a lavish cruise.

AceShowbiz - Daniel Craig is back on work as Benoit Blanc. Netflix has debuted the first teaser trailer of "Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery", a sequel to Rian Johnson's 2019 mystery film "Knives Out", setting the stage for another murder mystery.

The teaser sees Craig returning as the eccentric detective, who this time joins a group of bourgeois people on a trip to a Greek island that Edward Norton's billionaire character invites the rest of the cast to for a mystery game that shockingly turns deadly.

The sneak peek doesn't offer much on the plot, but it hints at the suspense that clouds the lavish cruise. "For one person on this island, this is not a game," Blanc warns others. "Lock the doors," he later adds. "Stay in your rooms. Everyone is in danger."

The teaser also features the ensemble cast that includes Dave Bautista, Leslie Odom Jr., Janelle Monae, Ethan Hawke, Kate Hudson, Kathryn Hahn, Jessica Henwick and Madelyne Cline.

The official logline of the film reads, "You're invited to put the pieces together. In the follow-up to Rian Johnson's 'Knives Out', Detective Benoit Blanc travels to Greece to peel back the layers of a mystery involving a new cast of colorful suspects."

Johnson, who returns as director and writer for the sequel, previously teased the story on Twitter, explaining that he's taking a page out of iconic mystery writer Agatha Christie's book for his original film franchise. "Something I love about Agatha Christie is how she never tread water creatively. I think there's a misperception that her books use the same formula over and over, but fans know the opposite is true," he wrote in June.

He continued, "It wasn't just settings or murder methods, she was constantly stretching the genre conceptually. Under the umbrella of the whodunnit she wrote spy thrillers, proto-slasher horrors, serial killer hunts, gothic romances, psychological character studies, glam travelogues."

"Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery" will have its world premiere at the 47th Toronto International Film Festival on September 10 and is scheduled to be released in select cinemas in November, before it's available to stream on Netflix starting December 23.
