The Grammy-winning hip-hop star, who released his latest album 'Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers' in May, denounces the title nine years after declaring his greatness on Big Sean's track 'Control'.

AceShowbiz - Kendrick Lamar has denounced "the greatest" title. Nine years after declaring his greatness on Big Sean's track "Control", the "HUMBLE" hitmaker stated that he doesn't want to be called that term anymore.
"Now, I'm dropping the ego a bit. I want to take 'the greatest' off of it," the 35-year-old said in an interview with Citizen magazine. "I want to give people something they can hold onto. So whether it touches 100 million people or inspires one, I want to be that person."
Kendrick previously expressed similar sentiments on "Savior", which appears on his latest album, "Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers". On the track, he spits, "Kendrick made you think about it/ But he is not your savior."
During the chat, the Grammy winner also elaborated on how he deals with fame now. "If I feel I have to remove myself, I just remove myself," he shared. "I won't complain about it. I won't cause a big blow-up or a big stir and let the world know that the walls are closing in…"
Kendrick got a new perspective on life thanks to his children, a 3-year-old daughter and an infant son. He said, "I got children now. I want them to see things that I wasn't privy to and be able to experience things outside of what they know."
Kendrick himself is currently busy with "The Big Steppers Tour" in support of his fifth studio album. He kicked off the American leg of the tour in July in Oklahoma City and will conclude it in Los Angeles in September before flying to Europe.
"Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart in May, marking his fourth No. 1 on the list. The fifth studio album from the Compton-born rapper earned 295,500 equivalent album units in the U.S. in the week ending May 19, according to Luminate.
The double album's total includes 258,500 in streaming equivalent album units (343.02 million on-demand streams of the tracks), 35,500 in album sales and 1,500 in track equivalent album units. It crushed the record previously set by Bad Bunny's "Un Verano Sin Ti" as the largest week of the year for any album.
