Co-created by Abel 'The Weeknd' Tesfaye, Reza Fahim as well as 'Euphoria' creator Sam Levinson, the six-episode drama is set to center 'on a self-help guru and leader of a modern-day cult.'

AceShowbiz - HBO has unveiled a new trailer for "The Idol". The new trailer for the upcoming drama series, which stars The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp among others, highlights its star-studded cast that includes BLACKPINK's member Jennie, Troye Sivan and Hank Azaria.

The trailer, which was released on Sunday, August 21, opens with The Weeknd's character taking a phone call from someone called Angel. Lily-Rose's character then appears as she's seen working out in a huge mansion. She's also seen having to deal with her fans before sexily dancing for someone.

Elsewhere in the trailer, she meets Jennie's character as they are at sauna. While smoking her cigarette, Lily-Rose asks, "What was the name of that club?" To that, Jennie only smiles slyly as they are later featured having fun at a party together.

The trailer, which first premiered at The Weeknd's concert at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Saturday night, also shares a glimpse of appearances by Troye, Suzanna Son, Moses Sumney, Jane Adams, Dan Levy, Eli Roth, Rachel Sennott, Hari Nef, Da'vine Joy Randolph, Mike Dean and Ramsey. Additionally, Melanie Liburd, Tunde Adebimpe, Elizabeth Berkley, Nico Hiraga, Anne Heche, Maya Eshet, Tyson Ritter and more are slated to make appearances.

Co-created by Abel "The Weeknd" Tesfaye, Reza Fahim as well as "Euphoria" creator Sam Levinson, the six-episode drama is "set against the backdrop of the music industry and centers on a self-help guru and leader of a modern-day cult who develops a complicated relationship with an up-and-coming pop idol." In addition, The Weeknd wrote alongside Levinson, Fahim and Joe Epstein. Amy Seimetz was originally supposed to direct every episode, but she left after some sort of change in the "creative direction" of the show.

" 'The Idol's' creative team continues to build, refine, and evolve their vision for the show and they have aligned on a new creative direction," HBO told Variety in April. "The production will be adjusting its cast and crew accordingly to best serve this new approach to the series. We look forward to sharing more information soon."

HBO has yet to announce a release date for the show.
