While Scotland's police launch a probe and Warner Bros. condemns the threatening tweet, Twitter states that 'there were no violations of the Twitter rules' in the tweet that the 'Harry Potter' author reported.

AceShowbiz - J.K. Rowling has called out Twitter after she received a threatening message over her support for controversial author Salman Rushdie. The British author has questioned the company's guidelines after Twitter ignored her plea for support.

Rowling recently reacted to the Friday, August 12 attack on Rushdie. "Horrifying news," she tweeted after hearing the news. "Feeling very sick right now. Let him be OK." One Twitter user then replied to her, "Don't worry you are next."

Rowling then reported the said user to Twitter. "any chance of some support," she wrote to the company. However, instead of supporting the author, the company told her that no action would be taken because they found no violations.

"After reviewing the available information, we determined that there were no violations of the Twitter rules in the content you reported," read Twitter's response to Rowling's complaint. "We appreciate your help, and encourage you to reach out again in the future if you see any potential violations."

Rowling then tweeted back to Twitter, "These are your guidelines, right?" pointing out the company's rules of the acts of "violence" and "terrorism/violent extremism."
