The 'Uproar' hitmaker, who has been teasing his long-awaited follow-up to his hit 2018 album 'Tha Carter V' since 2020, finally announces that his next big project will be released soon.

AceShowbiz - Lil Wayne has a little treat to excite his fans. The "Sucker for Pain" hitmaker has finally announced on social media that his long-awaited album "Tha Carter VI" is "on the way."

The "Uproar" spitter took to his TikTok account on Sunday, August 7 to reveal that his next big project will be released soon. "What up, y'all, Tunechi here. Thank you. [I] ain't s**t without you," he said, addressing his fans while sitting in the back of a luxury sprinter van. "I'm not sure if you heard, but Carter VI is on the way!" He captioned his post, "THA CARTER VI IS ON THE WAY."

The confirmation arrived several hours after Wayne announced the news during the "Young Money Reunion" tour in Toronto, Canada, on Saturday, August 6. Toward the end of the performance, Wayne, who stood onstage with fellow Young Money superstars Drake and Nicki Minaj, told the cheering crowd "I'm working on Carter VI, coming soon!" Soon after he announced the news of the forthcoming album, a huge screen appeared behind him that read "Tha Carter VI."

Wayne has been teasing "Tha Carter VI" since 2020 and has addressed the tracks on the planned album during numerous interviews. However, unforeseen circumstances postponed his original timeline, perhaps the global coronavirus pandemic and subsequent shutdowns.

In July that year, the 39-year-old rapper told Variety that his "favorite 'Carter' album is the next one." Wayne doubled down on that statement a month later, saying during his ESPN interview on August 15, 2020 that " '[Tha] Carter VI' is coming soon, but I got 'No Ceilings' coming first. 'No Ceilings 3'." The latter went on to release the mixtape in November of that year.

Wayne dropped "Tha Carter V" in September 2018. The 23-track collection featured guest appearances from Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott (II), Snoop Dogg, the late XXXTentacion and more. "Tha Carter V" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with 480,000 equivalent albums sold in its first week of release. The LP eventually reached platinum status in January 2019.
