The mother of Sterling Shepard, Chanel's ex-husband, took to Instagram to make it clear that she's against her grandchildren meeting the kids of Davon Godchaux, Chanel's new man.
On Monday, July 24, the model shared on her Instagram account a picture of her two daughters, whom she shares with Sterling, posing with Davon's son. Chanel put three red heart emojis in the caption, while her new beau commented, "Family."
Her followers quickly raved about the sweet moment in the comments section. "Beautiful," one user wrote, while someone else said, "Adorable." Another comment read, "Awwww…..look at them! This is so precious! Frame this beautiful family photo!"
"I just love a happy blended family," another fan commented. Echoing the sentiment, someone noted, "Awww everyone looks amazing I love this so much and glad the kids are getting along! Looks like they've gained a potential future protective big brother."
Sterling's mom apparently caught wind of the post. "She is still married," she wrote in a comment. "This is ridiculous. Signed, concerned grandmother."
Upon reading the message, fans jumped to Chanel's defense. "Lady your son is the one that wanted the divorce; grandparent quietly please," one fan said. "They been separated for a year it's literally only a piece of paper. So correct 'girl bye,' " another fan defended Chanel.
Sterling filed for divorce from Chanel on June 7, 2021 after three years of marriage. In court documents obtained by the site, the New York Giants player cited irreconcilable differences that "existed for at least six months" as the reason of the divorce. The documents also note there is "no reasonable prospect of reconciliation."
The wide receiver requests joint legal custody of their two children. He also asks his house to be his daughters' primary residence, while Chanel has "supervised parenting time" with the girls.
Later in April, Chanel debuted her new boyfriend in an Instagram post. In an image that she shared at the time, the catwalk beauty looked happy as Davon, who is also an NFL player, wrapped his arms around her and planted a kiss on her cheek.
