Responding to the reversal of Roe v. Wade, the 'Without Me' hitmaker stresses that 'every person deserves the right to choose when, if, and how they have this dangerous and life-altering experience.'

AceShowbiz - Halsey has gone candid about why they were against the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe. v. Wade. Days after the landmark 1973 decision regarding women's right to abortion got reversed, the "Without Me" hitmaker spilled through an open letter about how abortion saved their life following multiple miscarriages.

Penning their thoughts in the open letter published by Vogue on Friday, July 1, the 27-year-old singer shared, "My abortion saved my life and gave way for my son to have his." They went on to stress, "Every person deserves the right to choose when, if, and how they have this dangerous and life-altering experience."

In the letter, Halsey further revealed they has suffered three miscarriages before. "I miscarried three times before my 24th birthday. It seemed a cruel irony that I could get pregnant with ease but struggled to maintain a pregnancy," the "Closer" hitmaker confessed.

Halsey then recounted one of their miscarriage experiences. "One of my miscarriages required 'aftercare,' a gentle way of saying that I would need an abortion, because my body could not terminate the pregnancy completely on its own and I would risk going into sepsis without medical intervention," they explained.

"Many people have asked me if, since carrying a child to term after years of struggling to do so, I have reconsidered my stance on abortion. The answer is firmly no," they continued sharing. The singer, who boasts over 14 million followers on their media social account, further added, "In fact, I have never felt more strongly about it."

Halsey, whose real name is Ashley Nicolette Frangipane, was among the many celebrities who have expressed rage and disappointment over the reversal of the landmark 1973 ruling that granted women the right to an abortion in every state. U.S. Supreme Court officially overturned the decision on Friday, June 24.

While many were against the reversal of Roe v. Wade, former president Donald Trump applauded the Supreme Court's decision. "I think, in the end, this is something that will work out for everybody," the 76-year-old said in his interview with Fox News. He further reasoned, "This brings everything back to the states where it has always belonged."
