In a video she shares on her YouTube page, the wife of Justin Bieber assures her fans that she is 'recovering really well, really fast' and is now feeling 'much better' after undergoing the medical procedure for her grade-five PFO.

AceShowbiz - Hailey Baldwin has opened up more about her recent medical scare. Opening up about her health issue, the wife of Justin Bieber revealed that she had heart surgery after suffering a "really scary" stroke from a blood clot in her brain.

On Wednesday, April 27, the supermodel uploaded a 12-minute video, titled "Telling my story", on her YouTube page. In it, she unveiled that she recently had a patent foramen ovale (PFO) closure procedure performed to mend a hole in her heart.

"It went very smoothly … I'm recovering really well, really fast," Hailey told the viewers. She added that doctors told her she had suffered the clot due to side effects from birth control pills, COVID-19 and a long haul flight. After undergoing some tests, it was revealed that she had a grade-five PFO, which is the largest category of a hole in the heart.

Hailey explained, "When I went to UCLA we did more in-depth testing … to find a PFO," describing a PFO as "a flap between the right and left chambers of the heart." She added, "Typically at birth it's supposed to close on its own," noting that hers didn't close.

"They found that I had a grade five which is the highest grade you can have. Mine was fairly large," Hailey said. "What typically happens is the heart will filter the blood clot to the lungs and the lungs will absorb it because they're so big and they can handle it." However, the blood clot "escaped through the hole in my heart and traveled to my brain and that is why I suffered a [mini stroke]."

Hailey went on saying she was "just grateful that they found it," and her doctors performed a procedure in which they use "a button" to close the flap in the heart. She later assured her fans that she's now okay as saying, "I'm really relieved I will be able to just move on from this really scary situation and live my life." She also stressed that she is now feeling "much better."

At the end of the video, Hailey thanked all the doctors at the numerous centers who took care of her throughout the scary medical issue. "I feel very lucky to have had the healthcare resources and family support to be able to deal with this quickly as I did," the 25-year-old model, who has been on blood-thinning medication and aspirin every day, wrote. "I wanted to make this video to share more info and a few resources in the video description below to turn to if you have gone or are going through something similar."

Last month, Hailey was rushed to a hospital in the Palm Springs area for the "mini stroke." Taking to Instagram Story on March 12, the former catwalk beauty shared, "They found I had suffered a very small blood clot to my brain, which caused a small lack of oxygen, but my body had passed it on its own and I recovered completely within a few hours."

"Although this was definitely one of the scariest moments I've ever been through, I'm home now and doing well," Hailey stated. "I'm so grateful and thankful to all the amazing doctors and nurses who took care of me!"
