Warner Bros. Pictures announces the release date of Greta Gerwig's highly-anticipated live-action adventure from the iconic doll during its presentation at Las Vegas' CinemaCon.

AceShowbiz - The first look at Margot Robbie for "Barbie" is here. On Tuesday, April 26, Warner Bros. Pictures treated fans to a picture of the actress looking not so plastic but still fantastic as the titular character in Greta Gerwig's long-gestating movie.

In the picture, Robbie can be seen posing while sitting behind a pink convertible. Rocking blonde locks, she completely channels a Barbie in a blue-and-white outfit that features an open back. The actress completes her style with a polka dot bandana and a bracelet in matching color with her dress.

Meanwhile, Warner Bros. reveals in an Instagram caption the release date for the long-awaited movie. "#BARBIE July 21, 2023 Only in theaters," it read. It was also announced on Tuesday during the Warner Bros. presentation at Las Vegas' CinemaCon.

The first-look picture for the much-anticipated live-action adventure from the iconic doll successfully hyped fans. Gushing over the "Suicide Squad" star, someone wrote in a comment, "Perfect Casting." Another fan added, "This has everyone excited," while a fan claimed, "already obsessed!!!!"

"Barbie" is directed by Gerwig, who co-wrote the screenplay with partner Noah Baumbach. Robbie also serves as producer for the movie via LuckyChap with Tom Ackerley. They will be joined by Mattel's Robbie Brenner; and David Heyman for Heyday Films. LuckyChap's Josey McNamara and Mattel's Ynon Kreiz are executive producing.

Of portraying the iconic doll, Robbie previously said that it "comes with a lot of baggage … and a lot of nostalgic connections." The "The Wolf of Wall Street" actress added, "But with that comes a lot of exciting ways to attack it. People generally hear 'Barbie' and think, 'I know what that movie is going to be,' and then they hear that Greta Gerwig is writing and directing it, and they're like, 'Oh, well, maybe I don't.' "

In addition to Robbie, the movie is set to feature Ryan Gosling, Kate McKinnon, Alexandra Shipp, America Ferrera, Simu Liu, Will Ferrell and "And Just Like That..." actor Hari Nef.
