Steven Moffat, who serves as executive producer, promises that the HBO upcoming six-episode adaptation of Audrey Niffenegger's novel would 'be the love story we need right now.'

AceShowbiz - A new trailer has been released for "The Time Traveler's Wife" starring Theo James and Rose Leslie. The clip, which arrived on Thursday, April 21, sees the "Divergent" actor play a man with what is described as time travel fueled genetic disorder.

"Time travel: it's not a superpower. It's a disability. It's what's wrong with me," Theo's Henry says in the trailer. He later disappears before popping in and out of different realms of time, naked.

One scene in particular sees Henry running away from police officers, stealing clothes from a laundromat and writhing around on train tracks while going nude. Though he has no control over his time-traveling ability, Henry always finds his way back to his wife, Clare.

"I hate to be where she's not," Henry is heard saying. "I hate to be where she's not."

HBO confirmed about a year ago that "The Time Traveler's Wife" production has begun, with Steven Moffat serving as executive producer. Speaking about the show, Steven promised it would "be the love story we need right now."

"This is a story of loss but it's not a tragedy," he said in a statement at the time. "It's about a time traveler but it's not science fiction. Despite Clare and Henry's time scrambled relationship, this is the tale of a grand, ordinary love-but not necessarily in that order. This is a dream project for me."

"We can tell the whole story," he said. "The movie was a quite intelligently, abbreviated version, but abbreviating it - you miss all the detail and complexity and make it all about the time travel and not about the love story."

Based on the 2003 novel of the same name written by Audrey Niffenegger, "The Time Traveler's Wife" became a feature film in 2009, starring Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams. As for the upcoming six-episode series, it will debut on HBO on May 15.
