The one-half of City Girls also shares in a new interview that while she was in jail, she felt completely disconnected from everything happening in the outside world.

AceShowbiz - It's been two years since JT's release from a Florida prison. The City Girls raptress reflected on her prison time during her appearance on the "Abolition X" podcast, sharing what she has learned after regaining her freedom.
"I feel like I got better," the "Ex for a Reason" hitmaker told hosts Richie Resheda, Indigo Mateo and Vic Mensa. "Going to prison and coming out, gave me more edge, in my music when I rap and in my voice."
She went on to admit, "It did put a lot of fear in me too. It put a lot of anxiety in me. It changed me completely."
JT continued, "My whole life, I have always been painted as a rebellious person, and to the point where I started to believe it. If you always tell me that I’m the problem, I'm going to believe that I’m the problem, so now that I’m the problem, I'm going to be the problem."
JT shared that while she was in jail, she felt completely disconnected from everything happening in the outside world. However, she mentioned that a fellow inmate gave her encouragement.
During the interview, the rap star also discussed how she felt that black people aren't allowed to be confident in their successes. "People are more in-tuned with people who are down and out, than people who are up. They don't know how to celebrate black people when they are up, they are only relatable to black people when they are down, in f**ked up situations," she noted. "As soon as you get your first sense of confidence, they like, 'Who the f**k you think you are?' "
Latto (Mulatto) seemingly could relate to this. Earlier this week, the "777" artist slammed haters as she's tired of them trying to steal her joy. "It's really crazy how y'all try to take my happiness away from me sooooo bad and downplay all my accomplishments lol," the Atlanta native tweeted. "And it always come from a bunch of nobodies who just jealous that you jumped out there and chased ur dreams cause they too scared to."
"If I celebrate a small win it's laughed at as if it's 'not enough' (coming from ppl who've accomplished nothing in life) but when I celebrate a big win it's oh just shut up and be humble," the "Muwop" rapper continued. "lmao y'all are literally the reason why I'll never stop popping my s**t."
