AceShowbiz - Selena Gomez is opening up about her mental health in a new interview. During her appearance on "Good Morning America" on Monday, April 4 to announce the launch of Wondermind, the "Lose You to Love Me" singer talked about living with bipolar disorder.

She revealed that she felt her bipolar diagnosis was "freeing." She explained, "I started to have a relationship with myself. I think that's the best part. I've probably been the happiest I've ever been."

Selena went on to say that she hoped through Wondermind, her new multimedia company focused on mental health, people will be "understood and seen and heard. It's OK to not be OK."

"If I'm known for anything I hope it’s simply just for the way I care about people," she continued. "Those days where I don't want to get out of bed, if I had something like Wondermind, even if it took me a minute to get into it, it's just there. And there's something that’s really comforting about that."

Selena also spoke about her decision to step away from social media, and the internet itself, for 4 and a half years and how it affected her mental health. "It has changed my life completely," she said. "I am happier, I am more present, I connect more with people. It makes me feel normal."

"I understand how powerful the internet is, and in so many ways it’s done the best things for the world. But for me, I get to my news that is actually important I get through people in my life," the "Only Murders in the Building" star added.

She went on to explain that "growing up in the spotlight has definitely taught me so much." She continued, "I can't believe that I am where I am mentally just because of how I took the necessary steps in order to kind of remove myself from that because it's just not normal."
