The 'All Too Well' hitmaker is applauded by the country star after she defended herself following the Blur frontman's discrediting claims that she 'doesn't write her own songs.'

AceShowbiz - Taylor Swift, who has always been praised for her songwriting skill, has been applauded by Dolly Parton. The "Love Story" hitmaker was dubbed "magnificent" by the "Jolene" singer after she defended herself following Damon Albarn's "damaging" claims that she "doesn't write" her own songs.

"[Taylor] is a great writer, with or without anybody," the 76-year-old musician praised Taylor during an interview with HollywoodLife.com on Wednesday, January 26. When the pop star's fearlessness in calling out her haters was brought up, the country star said that the "All Too Well" songwriter "completely gets that and she's magnificent."

Dolly noted that she doesn't like "to judge other people and their problems." She added, "But when all that stuff that happens, like with Britney Spears, when they get [wrapped up in] controversy like that, you have to kind of stand up for yourself."

"I think she's done great. And that's one of the things I admire about her because she's never sold herself," gushed Dolly. The "Here You Come Again" singer added, "She's never felt like she's had to sell her body. She's always had good taste in how she's presented herself and with her songs."

Continuing to praise Taylor, Dolly told the outlet, "She's very creative and very, very, very smart in the marketing of her life. She knows who she is and what she wants." She went on to say that she's "the same" as Taylor as she's "going to fight if it goes against what [she feels] is not right for [her]," adding, "I really get rubbed wrong sometimes when people mistreat the artist. I don't like that."

Dolly also waved off Damon's claims that "co-writing doesn't count" in songcraft. "It's not true," she insisted. "When you co-write a song, you work just as hard. Sometimes you work harder with a co-writer because you want to be sure to do your part."

Elsewhere in the conversation, Dolly admitted that she doesn't write a lot with other people because her writing is deeply personal to her. "Rather than thinking about what I'm going to put on a record, I just write whatever is coming out right now," she shared. However, she pointed out that she still respects those who do create with others, stressing that "there's a lot to be said about co-writing."

Damon alleged that Taylor "doesn't write her own songs" in an interview with the Los Angeles Times. Upon learning of the claims, Taylor turned to her Twitter account to set records straight.

"I was such a big fan of yours until I saw this. I write ALL of my own songs. Your hot take is completely false and SO damaging," the 32-year-old Grammy-winning singer/songwriter fumed. "You don't have to like my songs but it's really f**ked up to try and discredit my writing. WOW."

A few hours later, Damon apologized for his thoughtless statement. "I had a conversation about songwriting and sadly it was reduced to clickbait. I apologise unreservedly and unconditionally," the Blur frontman replied to Taylor's tweet. "The last thing I would want to do is discredit your songwriting. I hope you understand."
