AceShowbiz - Fashion community has lost one of its icons. Famed writer and former Vogue creative director Andre Leon Talley passed away on Tuesday, January 18. He was 73.

According to TMZ, Taley had been in a hospital in White Plains, New York, battling an unknown illness. His death was confirmed by his literary agent, David Vigliano.

Among those who paid tribute to him after news of his death circulated online was designer Diane von Furstenberg". ?"Good bye darling Andre.. No one saw the world in a more glamorous way than you did," he wrote in an Instagram post. "no one was grander and more soulful than you were.. the world will be less joyfulI. I have loved you and laughed with you for 45 years…. I miss your loud screams …I love you soooo much."

Tyra Banks, meanwhile, expressed in a statement to Entertainment Tonight how much she "adored" Talley, who also served as a judge on "America's Next Top Model". The "ANTM" judge added that he was "such a prolific person."

"I adored Andre. Before meeting him, I had never experienced such a prolific person serving up a rare mix of fashion 'fabulousness' and real down-home southern comfort love," she continued. "Being in his presence was so magical."

The host of "Dancing with the Stars" also reflected on how Talley "made me smile, laugh and was a masterful teacher - a genius historian." She added, "Scholar, colleague, effervescent spirit, legend…you are resting now, Dearest Andre. But your spirit, your je ne sais quoi, your iconic voice…I hear it now. And will forever. We all will."

Also remembering the fashion legend was actress Viola Davis. "RIP Andre Leon Talley. Rest well King," the "Fences" star wrote on her Instagram account alongside a picture of herself and the icon.

Talley first joined Vogue in 1983 as the magazine's fashion news director. It didn't take long before he rose to creative director and editor-in-chief Anna Wintour's right-hand from 1987 to 1995. Taley left Vogue in 1995 and moved to Paris to work with W Magazine again.
