AceShowbiz - Sinead O'Connor has bid farewell to her late son. As family and friends gathered for Nevi'im Nesta Ali Shane O'Connor's Hindu funeral, the Irish singer paid tribute to her "beautiful angel."
"We just said goodbye to our beautiful angel, Shaney. Very lovely Hindu ceremony. Shane will have loved it," Sinead wrote on Twitter on Saturday, January 15. "He was always chanting 'Om. Shanti'. I put a few packs of fags in the coffin for him in case there's none in heaven. He'll have loved that too. Om. Shanti."
The funeral service, which was held at Newlands Cross Cemetery and Crematorium in West Dublin, was attended by 50 mourners. Aside from Sineah, Shane's father Donal Lunny was there.
At the funeral, the "Nothing Compares 2 U" songstress was seen wearing a bright pink sweatsuit. In a picture surfacing online, the musician was seen having a conversation with some guests.
Sinead confirmed Shane's death on January 7. "My beautiful son, Nevi'im Nesta Ali Shane O'Connor, the very light of my life, decided to end his earthly struggle today and is now with God," she wrote at that time. "May he rest in peace and may no one follow his example. My baby. I love you so much. Please be at peace."
The singer went on to slam an Irish hospital for letting her son escape. "I want to know why Lynn Ward at Taillight hospital who were supposed to have HCA's supervise my child 24/7 have managed to let him out of their grasp this morning when 7 days ago he made two severe suicide attempts," she raged.
In the wake of Shane's passing, Sinead worried her fans as she let out some alarming tweets. "I've decided to follow my son. There is no point living without him," she lamented. "Everything I touch, I ruin. I only stayed for him. And now he's gone."
However, Sinead later apologized to her online devotees. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that. I am with cops now on way to hospital. I'm sorry I upset everyone," she said. "I am lost without my kid and I hate myself. Hospital will help a while. But I'm going to find Shane. This is just a delay."
