According to a new report, the filming of season 9 is put on pause after a couple of dozen cumulative positive tests are detected through NBCU's extensive testing protocols.

AceShowbiz - "Chicago P.D." is the latest TV production which is forced to pause its production due to COVID-19 outbreak. According to a new report, the filming on season 9 of the NBC drama was suspended after a number of positive COVID-19 tests.

Deadline reported that the outbreak also happened in Zone A, which includes the cast and those who directly interact with them. A couple of dozen cumulative positive tests were detected through NBCU's extensive testing protocols.

Despite the positive tests, the production initially continued for a few days as the producers implemented crew members replacement and adjusted filming schedule. Cast and crew members who tested positive for the deadly virus had to be isolated. However, it was said that the show eventually decided to shut down the filming for a few days.

Another Chicago drama, "Chicago Fire", also similarly paused production last Wednesday, though it is scheduled to resume shooting on Thursday, January 13. As for "Chicago Med", it continues to remain in production without suspension.

The recent surge of Omicron variant cases has hugely affected production across the TV industry. Being delayed due to resurgent pandemic are ABC dramas such as "Grey's Anatomy", "Station 19" and "The Rookie".

Meanwhile, CBS' "NCIS" franchise was also put on halt following a number of positive tests. It was reported that among those who tested positive for COVID-19 was a cast member, though the identity remains unknown.

"Chicago P.D." stars Sophia Bush as Erin Lindsay, Jesse Lee Soffer as Jay Halstead, Marina Squerciati as Kim Burgess, Jason Beghe as Hank Voight, and Tracy Spiridakos as Detective Hailey Upton. They are joined by Patrick Flueger, who plays Adam Ruzek, and LaRoyce Hawkins, who portrays Kevin Atwater.

Season 9 of the show premiered on September 22, 2021, and returned on January 5 after its holiday hiatus.
