One of the critics compares the trio's rendition to the viral 'Imagine' cover by Gal Gadot, Sarah Silverman, Will Ferrel and other celebrities in the early COVID-19 pandemic.

AceShowbiz - Zendaya Coleman, Willow Smith and Kiernan Shipka become the butt of Internet's joke on what would've been David Bowie's 75th birthday. Many online users mocked the trio after W Magazine shared a video of them covering the late singer's song "Changes".

In the clip shared on Instagram on Saturday, January 8, Zendaya, Willow and Kiernan were seen partially singing and reading the lyrics of the 1972 hit. "In honor of what would have been #DavidBowie's 75th birthday, watch as the stars deliver a heartfelt rendition of the legendary rocker's hit song," so read the caption of the post.

Unfortunately, many were not amused by the video. "Why are they reading these iconic lyrics off a page!!??? If they don't know them off by heart like any Bowie fan then," one person argued, with another calling the cover "cringeworthy."

"I hate how they're reading it," a third user fumed. "This is painful to watch," someone else added. A different individual then chimed in, "I thought this was gonna be cute but instead it felt blasphemous."

The backlash didn't stop there. More came forward with one commenting, "This is so insulting to David Bowie, on his birthday of all days.." Another person noted, "Oh man. This is like that Imagine video. They couldn't pick the same key?" The user was referring to the viral "Imagine" cover by Gal Gadot, Sarah Silverman, Will Ferrell and other celebrities in the early COVID-19 pandemic.

While Zendaya, Willow and Kiernan's tribute to David failed to impress social media users, it wasn't the case for Iman's. Many gushed over the model's dedication for her late husband. On Saturday, the Somali-American actress shared on Instagram a black-and-white photo of the two sharing a hug. She captioned it, "January 8th Eternal Memories #BowieForever."

Viola Davis then rushed to the comment section to rave, "LOVE this photo sooooo much!!! Beautiful." One fan echoed the sentiment, "This is so beautiful. I was crying before but now I'm sobbing again." Another added, "Thanks for sharing this Wonderful pic. So beautiful."

Iman, who was married to David from 1992 until his death in 2016, has vowed that she will not remarry following his passing. "David is in our hearts and minds on a daily basis, for all of us," she told Harper's Bazaar magazine. "You know, this was my true love. My daughter once asked me if I would ever marry again and I said, 'Never.' "
