The late singer's ex-wife Geraldine Larrosa reveals that the 'X Factor' creator 'personally phoned the hospital and offered to help with anything' when he knew her ex-husband was seriously ill.

AceShowbiz - Simon Cowell's actions speak louder than his words. The British music producer, who brought together classical vocal group Il Divo, was ready to do anything to save a member of the group, Carlos Marin's life, when he was battling COVID-19.

It was the late singer's ex-wife Geraldine Larrosa who revealed the lengths the former "American Idol" judge went to in order to try saving her ex-husband. Speaking to Spanish publication Hola! in a video statement, she divulged that the record executive had rung the hospital and "offered to help with anything" when he knew the Spanish baritone was seriously ill.

"Simon Cowell personally phoned the hospital and offered to help with anything," Geraldine said while holding back tears. She added, "To help him, send him a plane in case they could fly [to Spain] sooner, but it was impossible. He was very sick and he would not have survived the pressure of the plane."

Carlos died on December 19 in Manchester, England at 53 years old. He was placed in a medically induced coma during his hospitalization following his COVID-19 diagnosis. A statement on the group's social media accounts read, "It is with heavy hearts that we are letting you know that our friend and partner, Carlos Marin, has passed away. He will be missed by his friends, family and fans. There will never be another voice or spirit like Carlos."

Simon was among those who quickly paid tribute to the late singer. "I am finding this so difficult to put into words how I feel right now. I am devastated Carlos Marin has passed away," he said in a statement. "He loved life. He loved performing and always had so much appreciation towards the fans who supported the group from day 1. Rest in peace Carlos. I will miss you."
