AceShowbiz - Candy Palmater has passed away. As confirmed by her partner and manager Denise Tompkins, "The Candy Show" star died "suddenly" at her home in Toronto. She was 53 years old.

On Saturday, December 25, the late Canadian comedienne's manager announced the heartbreaking news on the star's social media accounts. Along with a note that read, "A great glowing spirit left our world today," the manager wrote, "Post by Denise. I have few words. Candy passed away today at home suddenly. I will post information soon."

Speaking to CBC News, Denise confirmed that Candy passed away peacefully at her home. The manager went on to explain that a virtual public service will be organized in the near future for the star's fans and friends.

Following her passing, "The Social" paid a tribute via Instagram. "Today our entire team is grieving the sudden passing of our good friend Candy Palmater, who always left us smiling a bit bigger, laughing a bit harder, and thinking a bit more critically about the world around us. We're thinking of her loved ones today," so read the caption. "She'll be deeply missed."

On December 13, Candy unveiled that she was hospitalized for weeks due to a very rare disorder called Eosinophilic Granulomatosis with Poliangitis. In an Instagram post, she wrote, "14 nights in the hospital but if it wasn't for the compassion, abilities and the humanity of the people of Saint Michaels I don't know how I would manage."

Candy then expressed her gratitude to the nurses who helped her during her hospitalization. She continued, "GHESE NURSES keeping my spirits up, monitoring and administrating my treatments, stopping by yo check in me after their shifts have ended."

"And finally this bevy of doctors who put their egos aside, work together to discover that I am suffering from a rare condition called EGPA (Eosinophilic Granulomatosis with Poliangitis)," Candy added. Noting that she believed she would be discharged by that midweek, she concluded her post, "Thank you to everyone for working together- I believe I will be discharged by midweek with lots of out patient follow up."
