The former UCF player was pronounced dead in a hospital after suffering serious gunshot wounds following a heated argument with his own father over a dog bite.

AceShowbiz - Otis Anderson Jr., who was a running back at UCF, has passed away following a tragic incident. The American football player was reportedly gunned down by his own father Otis Anderson Sr. at the family home in Jacksonville, Florida.

According to authorities, the father and son duo were embroiled in a heated argument over a dog bite. The altercation occurred as Otis Sr. was upset after he was allegedly bitten by a dog that belonged to his son's girlfriend.

When cops arrived on the scene, Otis Jr. suffered "a gunshot wound to his chest and back (shoulder blade)." He was rushed to a nearby hospital along with his mother, Denise Anderson, who had multiple graze wounds. While the mother was released after being treated for her wounds, Otis Jr. was sadly pronounced dead.

According to Denise, she tried to break up the fight between her husband and son. She told her son to go upstairs and ended up arguing with her husband. When Otis Sr. flipped over a chair, Otis Jr. came back downstairs to make sure his mother was OK. This led to another fight between the father and son before the fatal gun incident eventually happened.

Otis Anderson Sr., 52, was arrested with a first-degree murder. He is being held without bond and has been appointed a public defender. He's due to appear before a judge on December 22.

Otis Jr.'s former coach reacted to his tragic death, "Saddened and stunned by the passing of Otis Anderson Jr. Tough and gritty, fun and full of laughter, he made such a positive impact on our university, community, and our locker room. He was an unbelievable teammate. My condolences go out to the entire UCF family."

Former teammate McKenzie Milton tweeted, "Bra no way [sad face] [heartbreaking emoji]." Rob Sauvao wrote, "Fly high my brotha."

Former NFLer/Giants player Ottis OJ Anderson also sent condolences after he was mistaken for Otis Anderson Sr. "My phone is blowing up. I am not the father of the young man who played for UCF and was killed by his father. I only have daughters," he set the record straight before adding, "It is a tragic situation and I pray, as should all of you, for his mother and the rest of his family. He was gifted! Rest well young man."
