The 'Don't Stop the Music' hitmaker becomes one of the two living Barbados National Heroes in addition to 85-year-old cricketer Sir Garfield, who was given the title in 1998.

AceShowbiz - Rihanna has received a new title in Barbados. After the country became the world's newest republic and removed Queen Elizabeth II as its head of state, its Prime Minister Mia Mottley named the "Don't Stop the Music" hitmaker a national hero.

The Fenty Beauty founder accepted the honor in a Bridgetown ceremony on Monday, November 29. "On behalf of a grateful nation, but an even prouder people, we therefore present to you the designee for national hero of Barbados, Ambassador Robyn Rihanna Fenty," Mia said, inviting the musician up onstage.

"May you continue to shine like a diamond and bring honor to your nation by your words, by your actions, and to do credit, wherever you shall go," Mia added, referring to Rihanna's 2012 chart-topping single, "Diamonds". "God bless you my dear."

For the special occasion, Rihanna looked elegant in an orange silk halterneck dress by Bottega Veneta. The "Ocean's 8" actress, who was previously named ambassador to Barbados in 2018, paired her look with strappy heels and a black face-mask.

Rihanna was the second woman in Barbados history to be crowned the honor of National Hero after religious leader Sarah Ann Gill, who passed away in 1866. She's also one of the two living Barbados National Heroes in addition to 85-year-old cricketer Sir Garfield, who was given the title in 1998.

This arrived after Forbes declared Rihanna as a billionaire in August. According to the publication, the singer is now worth an estimated $1.7 billion, thanks to her companies Fenty Beauty and Savage x Fenty.

It made Rihanna become the second richest woman in entertainment on the planet, behind Oprah Winfrey, who has an estimated net worth of $2.7 billion. When asked about how it felt to be the "richest female musician," the 33-year-old "Umbrella" hitimaker replied, "God is good."
