The upcoming big-screen adaptation of 'Lucky' about Alice Sebold's real-life rape has lost its main star and all of its financing after the accused man is exonerated.

AceShowbiz - "You" star Victoria Pedretti has dropped out of Alice Sebold's movie adaptation about her 1981 rape following the exoneration of the man she accused.
The actress has exited "Lucky", based on Sebold's 1999 memoir of the same name, according to Variety.
The project has reportedly lost all of its financing.
Sebold pinned the rape on Anthony Broadwater, who was fully exonerated last week (ends26Nov21) after a former executive producer attached to the movie dug deeper into the facts of the story after having suspicions about the script and its source material, according to TMZ.
Tim Mucciante quit the project over what he perceived as holes in the story.
He hired a private investigator and consulted with lawmakers, who agreed the evidence no longer held up and asked the court to vacate Broadwater's 1982 conviction.
Sebold failed to identify Broadwater as her attacker while she was a student at Syracuse University in 1981 in a police line-up, but he still became the prime suspect despite maintaining his innocence.
He was released from prison in 1999.
Sebold hasn't commented on Broadwater's exoneration.
But a spokesperson for her publisher Scribner said, "Neither Alice Sebold nor Scribner has any comment. Scribner has no plans to update the text of Lucky at this time."
Meanwhile, Broadwater was overwhelmed with emotions after his conviction was overturned. "When he spoke to me about the wrong that was done to me, I couldn't help but cry," he said. "The relief that a district attorney of that magnitude would side with me in this case, it's so profound, I don't know what to say."
