The singer, who had appeared on a series of talent shows such as 'America's Got Talent' and 'The Voice', passed away after being involved in an incident while working at a tire manufacturing plant in Oklahoma.

AceShowbiz - Thomas Wells has passed away. According to his family, the former "The X Factor" star died after being involved in a tragic accident at a workplace on Saturday, November 13. He was 46 years old.

Confirming his death was his wife, Jessica Wells. Jessica told TMZ that the 46-year-old musician died after an accident at work at a tire manufacturing plant in Oklahoma. Jessica told the outlet that parts of her husband's body had been trapped in machinery following the accident, involving a "conveyor belt" type of equipment that did not stop.

Shortly after the incident, Thomas was rushed to a nearby hospital in Idabel. He was then airlifted to another hospital in Tyler, Texas where it was hoped specialists would treat him. Unfortunately, he died in hospital before the specialist could help him.

Remembering her husband of 17 years, Jessica told the outlet that she's "remembering him as a unique person who always had a smile on his face and tried to make people laugh." Jessica added, "He would sometimes bust out singing and didn't mind the spotlight."

A funeral was held for Thomas on November 20. Thomas was preceded in death by a brother, Justin Todd Wells. In addition to his wife, Thomas is survived by his parents, Ricky and Rosemary Dean, and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Brandi and Robert Williams.

The talented musician made his debut on "The X Factor" in 2011 and went on to appear on similar music competition shows like "The Voice", "America's Got Talent" and "The Winner Is". At the time of his "The X Factor" filming, he was employed at a food manufacturer in Oklahoma.

Thomas, who was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas and marked his 46th birthday on September 2, had been musical from an early age, teaching himself how to play instruments by ear and singing in choirs at church and school. However, the self-taught multi-instrumentalist never struck it big.
