Talking about his experience creating the game with the rockers, game designer and artist Maxx242 claims they 'always allows us artists to add to their story and just create and be artists.'

AceShowbiz - Metallica have released a custom version of classic board game Clue.

The rockers' special edition of the mystery favorite features a search for the band's missing gear, which could be a guitar, bass, snare drum, wah pedal, microphone or computer.

Gamesters can play as Papa Het, Duder, Mr. Ripper, Dr. Groove, The Engineer, or Col. William, with the character names referencing the real heavy metal stars.

"We were mostly given the specs for the production of the game, as well as the storyline, which is very similar to the classic game. Oh, I did receive images of their headquarters. That was awesome to see. Hope to one day get the opportunity to grace their walls there with some aerosol art!," says game designer and artist Maxx242 in an interview on Metallica.com.

"Even with such an elaborate project, the Metallica team always allows us artists to add to their story and just create and be artists. It was an amazing experience to help create this game with them."

Metallica Clue can be purchased on the band's website for $49.99 (£37.50).

The original game was developed during World War Two by a British solicitor, and sold in North America under the name Clue starting in 1949. Several games and books have been released as part of the Clue franchise, as well as the 1985 movie, which starred Tim Curry, Christopher Lloyd and the late Madeline Kahn.
